I did this piece while pregnant with my third daughter.  I was planning on having a home birth attended by two midwives and my doula.  While I was pregnant I spent a lot of time really visualizing what I wanted for my birth and putting it down on paper. I really do feel that this exercise helped me envision and ultimately create the birth experience I wanted.  There's one photo from from her birth where my midwives and doulas look almost exactly like this, my midwife is even wearing the same color shirt!  The mind is a pretty powerful thing.
