This mandala is part of a two piece series, the other being "Mother Sun." In this piece I was envisioning the fullness of a mother's belly and how connected she to the lunar cycle, her menstrual cycle, gestation, as well as the midwives' tale that more babies come on a full moon. My middle daughter herself was born on both a full moon and the summer solstice. Here you see mother counting the waxing and waning moon, awaiting her baby.
